W Connection got off to a perfect start on Sunday, when the 2014 Youth Pro League season kicked off, with wins at every division.

Connection opened with an incredible 9-0 win over Police at the Under 14’s division with a pair of goals each by Nikel Rawlins (16th and 33nd minutes), Jarelle Steadman (17th and 34th minutes) and Jevaughn Humphrey (40th and 41st minutes), while Kyjuan Sampson (23rd minute), Deneilson Benjamin (44th minute) and Christian Rasome (55th minute) picked up an item each for the Leonson Lewis coached-youngsters.

But at the Under 16 division – coached another former Trinidad and Tobago international, Brian Williams – forward Anthony Herbert was the star of the day netting an impressive five goals (5th, 24th, 32nd, 40th and 55th minutes) while teammate Isaiah Hudson grabbed a double (53rd and 46th minute) in Connection’s 7-0 hammering of Police FC at the St. James Barracks ground.

Then at the Under 18’s/Reserve division, coached by former Connection star players Jose Luis Seabra and Clyde Leon, the Couva based-club wrapped up their trip to north Trinidad with a 3-2 win, which they had to hold on for, following two late goals by Police.

Martieon Watson opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 21st minute, and senior team player Mikaeel Jem Gordon doubled the advantage by the 37th minute, before Yafeu Rougier made it 3-0 a minute inside the second period.

Police stormed back with goals by Andell Andrews and senior team player Christon Thomas in the 77th and 82nd minutes respectively, but were short of the equalizer.

Connection now leads the U-14 and U-16 standings after Round One Match Day One, while rivals San Juan Jabloteh stands at the top of the U-18/Reserve table.

Jabloteh finished 5-2 winners over home-side St. Ann’s Rangers at Trinity College ground in Moka, in a contest inclusive of three penalties and an own goal.

Much earlier in the day, Jabloteh hammered the St. Ann’s club 8-0 in the U13 division, but slipped to a 2-1 defeat in the U-16 division.

Caledonia AIA also got off to a good start with 3-0 and 2-1 wins over Central FC in the U-16 and U-18/Reserve divisions, and won by default in the U-13.

While down at the Mahaica Oval in Point Fortin, home-side and debutants Point Fortin Civic were undefeated against North East Stars.
