Keith Jeffrey, technical director/head coach of San Juan Jabloteh, is The Fan Club Coach of the Month for June, after edging Derek King to the honour for that month.
The 2017 Pro League season, after just over two months of entertaining competition, already includes St. Ann's Rangers shocking three-time league holders Central FC to a 1-0 win on Jul. 14, Defence Force defeating W Connection 4-1 on Jul. 29 and Point Fortin Civic snapping the unbeaten run of North East Stars with a late 1-0 win at Mahaica Oval in another surprise result on Aug. 11
Pro League action is scheduled to resume on September 8, following a month long suspension to facilitate Trinidad and Tobago national team's preparation for the resumption of FIFA 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Honduras and Panama on Sep. 1 and 5 respectively.
Jeffrey, no stranger to the TFC Coach of the Month award, steered Jabloteh to a draw against three-time league holders, Central FC (0-0), before recording straight wins against Defence Force (1-0), Morvant Caledonia United (1-0) and St. Ann's Rangers (1-0) to secure the June TFC Coach of the Month honour ahead of close challenger and North East Stars coach, Derek King.
King, who like his W Connection counterparts, enjoyed going three games on a perfect trot but played a game less than Jabloteh and Connection—the latter losing their final game in the month.
"You are never sure which way the victory will go, not even against lower teams,” said Jeffrey during Friday's presentation at The Fan Club’s Movie Towne outlet at Invaders Bay, Port-of-Spain.
Jeffrey also pointed out that the 2017 season is "possibly the closest the league has ever been" due to a number of reasons including "financial constraints" and "coaches doing their homework" in preparation for games.
Jabloteh (10 points and three games in hand) are currently fourth on the standings, one point ahead of, in descending order, Central, Defence Force and Point Fortin Civic.
W Connection and Club Sando are tied at the top with 17 points, separated only by 'goals scored', and are one point ahead of third-placed North East Stars, who have two games in hand and nine regular games left in the truncated season.
