San Fernando Starworld Strikers are overjoyed at being accepted back in the ranks of the T&T Pro League.
After missing the 2005 season, because of running into financial difficulties in 2004—the San Fernando based club is determined to get it right this time and wants to create the sort of impact they did in 2004 when things fell apart.
The embattled club owner Mr. Ashmead Ali is assuring all the financial matters are being sorted out, he told ttproleague.com, “We are expecting to sign a deal with a sponsor from within the community this week and that will be a big boost to the club. What many people did not know, is that I managed the entire running of the club before on my own, and it took a lot of sacrifices for it to reach where it has—but I needed help in order to continue, so hopefully this season we can have things running in a professional manner.”
Starworld Strikers were accepted back into the T&T Pro League, along with Superstar Rangers late Friday night after much deliberation by the League.
Mr. Ali has also confirmed that the core of his team from 2004 will be back this coming season—the likes of Randolph Jerome, Dexter Franklyn, Marvin Phillips Linsie Sherwood, Andre Charles and Errol Charles will all be back in the mix.
Mr. Ali says he is expecting his team to give a good account of themselves despite all their challenges, “we are working day and night to get things in order for the start of the season, we have just two weeks, and while that’s not a lot of time, all things being equal we should be ready.”
