Midfielder Trent Noel doubled up on the night of CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh annual awards ceremony at the Cascadia Hotel Ballroom when he copped two of the major awards on the night.
After an impressive performance this season, Noel was voted the team’s MVP and also received a special Chairman’s Award, for Most Outstanding Player in the Club.
The other main awardees on the night were striker Anthony Wolfe receiving the award of Most Goals only after a year with the San Juan Club; Wolfe was also the league’s top goal scorer.
The Most Improved player went to 21 year old midfielder Jason Marcano and Most Disciplined was defender Keyeno Thomas who recently overcame a neck injury.
All four awardees are also currently in a selection of local players training with the National Team ahead of the Digicel Cup campaign.
In the Chairman’s address, Jerry Hospedales congratulated Noel at the function saying, “He is undoubtedly the Most Valuable Player this year. His contribution was outstanding in the battlefield for Jabloteh as a midfielder,” said the Jabloteh chairman.
Mr Hospedales paid tribute to other outstanding players such as World Cup players Cyd Gray and Aurtis Whitley, striker Peter Prosper and midfielder Kerry Baptiste who is currently the club’s top scorer to name a few.
And a public tribute was also made to Chairman and CEO of the TT Pro League, Larry Romany and Dexter Skeene for doing a great job on improving the standard of the Pro League.
The Chairman also added, “At Jabloteh, we the Executive are committed to our youth programs which has paid great dividends. We now have a majority of our players who currently plays at all national levels and even support the school teams,” said Mr Hospedales.
The main invited guest, US Ambassador Roy Austin a former footballer himself who once captained the St Vincent national team was honored to be part of such a great Club saying, “I am honored to be part of such a great Club, but I want to remind players to think about their future. You might be exceptional players today but after football, life goes on and you should remember your education, if you are to remain successful. I have played football and was still able to do well academically and this is why I am in a position I am in now,” said the former Yale University soccer captain.
After the awards, MVP Trent Noel spoke with ‘ttproleague.com’ on his feelings on achieving such an award and said, “It’s a great feeling to win such an award and I can tell anyone that hard work pays off. The effort I put into training and not only with coach Terry Fenwick, but I would sometimes also put in an extra hour and receiving this award now it feels good.”
“Credit must be given to the entire team on my achievement. I would not have been able to give my best if it wasn’t for the team effort by the players,” said Noel.
When asked what advice he would give to the younger players Noel said, “Working hard is the key to success of a disciplined player. Remember to always take on board your coach’s instruction and advice because today I can say that these things have contributed to my success,” ended the Jabloteh MVP.
