In a game marred by questionable refereeing decisions, Caledonia AIA got pass Joe Public(EFA) 4-1 as the opening round of the F.A. trophy competition kicked off on Wednesday evening.

The game saw the two teams take a while to settle and it was Caledonia that had the first chance on goal, when Conrad Smith shot wide in the 5th minute.

After this both teams tried to control the game and it was not until the 17th minute that any team had a chance at goal when Hayden Tinto dispossessed Dominic Hutchinson but he shot wide.  A minute later Jamel Lewis turned a Kareem Joseph cross into his own goal for a 1-0 Caledonia lead.

In the 24th minute Conrad Smith hit wide after a good build up between Stephen Cruickshank and Kareem Joseph.

Dexter Thornhill got Public on level terms in 44th minute when he ran on to a Travis Mulraine through ball, 1-1 at the half.

The second half started with a lot of action and in the 48th minute Caledonia was awarded a questionable penalty after Jovan Rochford was adjudged to have fouled Kareem Joseph in the penalty box.

Jagdeosingh scored the resulting penalty, 2-1 Caledionia’s lead restored. Four minutes later Jageosingh could have had an early double but he shot straight at Joe Public’s keeper Jevon Bourne after a good cross by Kareem Joseph.

In the 54th minute Jagdeosingh was to make amends when he fired home a bullet from on top the 18 yard box after Joe Public keeper was hurt in a collision with Hayden Tinto 3-1.

The game then got very physical with the referee seeming to be unable to control the game.  In the 69th minute Jagdeosingh should have had his hattrick but his header was weak after a good cross by Kareem Joseph.

Three minutes later national midfielder Denzill Theobald had his shot brilliantly saved by keeper Bourne.

In the 75th minute the upright denied Jagdeosingh his hattrick for a second time, with time winding down Caledonia sub Anthony Thompson scored after a mix up in the Joe Public defence—4-1 Caledionia with 2 minutes remaining.
