Twenty seven year old defender Dwayne Jack is aiming at the possibility of earning a contract outside of Trinidad and Tobago at the end of the 2007 Pro League season.
The lanky Trinidad and Tobago national defender made an immense decision this season to join CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh on a two year contract leaving his home Club Tobago United where he spent four years.
Jack a Tobagonian by birth told ‘ttproleague.com’ in an exclusive interview ahead of the 2007 season, “I want to do better as a player this season and go on to get a contract outside of Trinidad and Tobago.”
In November of last year Jack along with two of his Tobago United teammates Kevin Adams and Garth Woodley traveled to England on trials with English Division Two Club Wycombe Wonderers
Although not earning a contract back then, Jack at 27 years old still believes he can get it right on his next opportunity.
“It was a good experience for me in England with Wonderers, something I would never forget. I took some time to adapt to the climate, but I know I did well while at the Club.”
“I am sure once I get the opportunity again, I am going to make it,” assured the Tobago born player.
According to the defender he had discussions on putting things in place for him to get an opportunity outside of Trinidad and Tobago with Coach Terry Fenwick of Jabloteh prior to signing with the Club.
The now former Tobago United player marks his move to the 2006 Courts Pro Bowl and Lucozade Sport Big Six Champions as a developmental one as he looks to secure his position on the national team.
He said, “I need to improve myself and try to stay on the national team because my aim is to be part of the Gold Cup squad in June.”
“To improve I need to be with a good Club. Jabloteh is a strong Club, they train twice a day and this would be good for my game. It wasn’t like this at Tobago United and this is why I made the decision to join Jabloteh.”
Jack is now committed to his new Club saying, “I know that I would do well at Jabloteh this season. Terry Fenwick is a good coach and it’s just for me to follow his program.”
“I am a professional player, Jabloteh is my employer and they pay my salary so I am going to give my best,” he added.
Jack, who is a father shifted his residency to Trinidad in the San Juan area after living all of his life in the sister isle of Tobago.
When asked about how hard it was for him to move residence, Dwayne Jack said, “It had a lot of thought in it. I spoke to my family about it at first and they all accepted my decision to stay in Trinidad for now. They knew it was for my best interest,” ended the Jabloteh player.
