United Petrotrin and Bmobile Joe Public have both had their financial penalties reduced by 80% by the TTFF Appeals Committee after arbitrating the brawl matter between United Petrotrin FC and Bmobile Joe Public FC in the Digicel Pro League.

United Petrotrin’s financial penalty was reduced to $3,000 from $15,000 and Joe Public’s to $2,600 from $13,000 on Thursday 6 August after the Appeals Committee made up of chairman Raymond Tim Kee, Roland Ford and Kenny De Silva met and arbitrated the matter, the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFF) released via fax to the TT Pro League on Friday 14 August.

All players have also had their financial penalties waived with the exception Joe Public Colombian goalkeeper Alejandro Figueroa whose financial penalty has been reduced from $4,000 to $2000.

All affected players were reinstated, thus eligible to represent their clubs, with immediate effect stated the Appeals Committee.

The TTFF release further started that a subsequent meeting was held on Friday 7 August with the Coach and Manager of both clubs. They were harshly reprimanded for their clubs’ and players’ conduct and warned of possible severe penalties for any recurrence according to the release from TTFF.

United Petrotrin FC and Joe Public FC were involved in a brawl on Saturday 4 July following their Round One Match Day Eight goalless encounter as reported by the officiating Referee and Match Commissioner.

After careful review of the incident having viewed video evidence as well as interviewing all parties indentified in the incident, the TT Pro League’s Disciplinary Committee had taken stern decisions with regard to each club. A total of TT$43,750 in fines and a total 39 match bans had been handed down on July 23 by the Disciplinary Committee after presiding over the matter on three occasions (Wednesday 8 July, Sunday 12 July and Wednesday 15 July).

However United Petrotrin and Joe Public both responded by forwarding the matter to the Appeals Committee—within their 14 days of their legal timeframe—on July 27.

To date only Ian Williams and Wesley Federick of United Petrotrin and Alejandro Figueroa and Seon Power of Joe Public were still facing suspensions. Williams had two remaining match bans, Federick one remaining match ban, Figueroa three remaining match bans and Power one remaining match ban. They are now all available for selection in Round Two Match Day Six of the Digicel Pro League.
