DIREC-TV and the North East Stars announced today, a two-year sponsorship agreement, which will facilitate the Sangre Grande based club’s return to the TT Pro League.
Under the agreement, DIREC-TV takes on the role of title sponsor as the Satellite TV provider looks to strengthen its presence in local football.
In a statement released, DIREC-TV General Manager, Bernard Pantin said: “DIREC-TV and the Stars are a natural fit, as we have had a long tradition of association with the residents of the East Coast as part of a subscriber base. We are very proud to reconnect with football in Trinidad and Tobago through this venture. This is a great collaboration with phenomenal community benefits,”
Four years ago, DIREC-TV assisted Trinidad and Tobago player Silvio Spann in accompanying the national team to the 2006 World Cup in Germany after Spann suffered the disappointment of injury just prior to the Tournament.
The statement further added: “With this sponsorship commitment, the Club will now be able to pursue their longer term goals, including development of upgraded grounds and a permanent home. DIREC-TV will also work with the Club in community based activities, employment opportunities, charity events, & educational facilities.”
“We at North East Stars are elated at the prospect of this partnership, and looking forward to rebuilding football in the community in Sangre Grande, and by extension, the North East region,” stated 2006 World Cup defender and Stars CEO Brent Sancho.
