"It is a mere formality," said W Connection FC owner David John-Williams on news of Silvio Spann's return to Trinidad and Tobago after four years in England with Nationwide Conference campaigners Wrexham FC.
"We are currently in negotiations and he will sign this week," John-Williams said of the 29-year-old utility player, who has 41 international caps for T&T.
Spann will now have his fourth stint with W Connection. He has also played in Italy's Serie A with Perugia and the J-League in Japan with Yokohama FC.
His return will strengthen W Connection, who are currently third in the Digicel Pro League, behind runaway leaders Defence Force and defending champions Joe Public.
Spann will also give Trinidad and Tobago coach Russell Latapy another experienced home-based player to choose from in the build-up to the 2010 Digicel Caribbean Cup.
He last played for T&T during the failed 2010 World Cup campaign.
Spann was unlucky not to be a member of coach Leo Beenhakker's 2006 World Cup team, dropped from the final squad only after picking up a hamstring injury.
The son of former national player Leroy Spann is known for his ability to shoot from distance.
He is best remembered for a 40-yard free-kick he scored for Trinidad and Tobago in a 2-1 loss to El Salvador at the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
