Hard tackling midfielder Joseph Peters is making a comeback with St. Ann’s Rangers after missing the 2009 season due to injury.

The now 32 year old Peters missed last season after picking up an injury to his face during a hunting trip in December of 2008.

Rangers went on to miss the services of the ball winning midfielder finishing ninth in the Digicel Pro League Championship—the club’s worst finish at the Pro League level.

But now Peters is aiming at helping his hometown club rebound after last season’s slump.

“I didn’t watch much of the football last season, because of my injury,” he said. “But I knew the team didn’t do well. I’m back now and I think my strength in midfield and love for Rangers will help the team do better this season.

“We are a few days from our first match and we will definitely start making the changes from there on,” assured the veteran midfielder.

Peters explained that after spending six months recovering from his injuries sustained on the hunting trip, he thought his playing career had come to an end.

“I thought I wouldn’t have been back. It was really tough not being able to play,” he added. “But by the grace of God I’m back with Rangers and I have been training for the past three months.”

“It wasn’t difficult coming back to Rangers,” Peters said. “They(Rangers) told me that I’m always welcome to come back after recovering from my injuries. Right now I´m working on my fitness and just trying to shake off the little rust of not playing for the past year.”
