Trinidad and Tobago’s Defence Force qualified for the 2011 Military World Games in Brazil, when they reached the Final of the Armed Forces Continental Football Championship in Suriname following a 4-3 win over Ecuador’s Defence Force on Saturday.

In form striker Devorn Jorsling hammered his second hattrick of the tournament in as many matches netting in the 3rd, 42nd and 66th minutes while Richard Roy’s 70th minute item proved vital for the 4-3 win in Paramaribo, Suriname against Ecuador.

The T&T Defence Force meets Brazil’s Defence Force on Sunday 14 November in the Final of the Continental Football Championship after the South Americans whipped hosts Suriname 3-2 in the other semi-final clash.

Both Trinidad and Tobago and Brazil – as the top two Continental finishers – automatically advances to represent the Americas at the Fifth Edition of the Military World Games scheduled to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from 12 – 24 July, 2011.

Its history for Head Coach Ross Russell and his charges qualifying for the Military World Games in 2011 after two tries in the competition’s five year history.

But Sunday’s Armed Forces Continental Football Championship Final against Brazil will surely be a tough assignment for the islanders.

Coach Russell is without striker Jorsling (who scored hattricks against Canada and Ecuador), midfielder Dexter Pacheco and defender Rawle Fletcher for Sunday’s Final having picked up red cards against Ecuador.

T&T’s Defence Force journey to the Continental Football Championship Final saw them top Group B with wins over hosts Suriname(3-0) and Canada(5-0) before edging Ecuador(4-3) in the semi-final round.

Despite being without the suspended trio, Coach Russell still holds a confident bunch to choose from.

Goalkeeper Kevin Graham will surely hold his regular starting position while Keston Williams, Devin Jordan, Michael Edwards, Kurt Williams, Kerry Joseph, Corey Rivers, Albert Dexter Thornhill, Sean Narcis, Rondell Elcock, Aklie Edwards, Ronald St. Louis, Richard Roy and Marvin Jones starting roles are left to Russell’s and assistant coach Marvin Gordon’s decisions for Sunday’s Final.
