Carlyle Mitchell (Right) could need surgeryLeading bmobile Joe Public defender Carlyle Mitchell is currently a patient at Medical Associates in St. Joseph after suffering injuries to his face in Saturday’s clash against Ma Pau SC.

It is believed that the central defender has fractured the skull around his right eye as well as damaged his jaw after a collision with Ma Pau forward Trevin Caesar some 20 minutes into the match.

“Right now he still has a lot of swelling on the face,” Joe Public General Manager Sam Phillip told www.ttproleague.com on Monday.

“The doctors are waiting until the swelling goes down to further assess the damage and until then we will know if he has to undergo surgery.”

Carlyle suffered the injury four minutes after Kerry Baptiste had the Lions in front when he headed in a Hayden Tinto cross.

Baptiste then scored the winner two minutes from time for a 2-1 after Ma Pau equalized from a superb Lyndon Andrews freekick in the 85th minute.

The defending Digicel Pro League champions boosted its second position on the League standings with 19 points but remain 11 points behind current leaders Defence Force.
