Super League champions T&TEC has been accepted into the TT Pro League while St. Clair Coaching School, QPCC and 1st FC Santa Rosa have been afforded extensions to fulfill requirements.
The Pro League Board of Directors has accepted T&TEC as of the 2011-2011 season after the winners of the 2010 Super League and Knocout titles fulfilled all requirements.
TT Pro League CEO Dexter Skeene said, “The League considers it an asset to have T&TEC join its ranks.
“They have been involved in youths over the years and the management seems committed to the development of professional sports and players.
“It is a pleasure to welcome them into the TT Pro League fold and we wish them the best.”
Skeene explained that the League continues to work with interested clubs to assist in the transition to professional football.
The Pro League CEO said that the board has given extensions to St. Clair Coaching School, QPCC and 1st FC Santa Rosa in which time they must fulfill financial as well as administration requirements.
T&TEC will line up among Defence Force, Caledonia AIA, Joe Public, W Connection, Ma Pau SC, San Juan Jabloteh, North East Stars, St. Ann’s Rangers, FC SouthEnd and Police FC in the 2011-2012 Pro League season which kicks off in August.
T&TEC FC Manager Peter Mohan believes the time is right saying, “It’s a good feeling (to be accepted) because last year when we attempted to join the Pro League we finished runners-up in the 2009 Super League and Knockout and we felt that was a good time.
“But now we are better poised and moving to the Pro league is moving up a step because we have won the Super League and Knockout titles.
The Trinidad & Tobago Electric Commission(T&TEC) Sports Club celebrates its 55th anniversary and after only joining the Super League in 2009 finishing runners-up in the League and Knockout then winning the titles in 2010 says a lot about the “Electric Boys”.
T&TEC coached by Dexter Cyrus, assistants Desmond Bailey and Jefferson George and trainer Adarryl John is equipped with captain Jade Jones and the 2010 Super League top goalscorer Kevon Neaves.
Mohan says that his team is not just about making up numbers and promises a competitive T&TEC when they join the Pro League in the 2011-2012 season.
“We feel that we have a lot of artillery to move on, but we are not just stepping up in the League as another number.
“There will be some changes. Obviously we would have evaluated our performance against the Pro League club(North East Stars in a 1-0 defeat) in the Toyota Classic Round of 16 and it’s from that we have an idea moving forward.
“Definitely in terms of the structure and way we play will stay the same but we are focused on being competitive,” Mohan assured.
