Shaquille Bertrand scored a second half double on Sunday at the Marvin Lee Stadium to help U-17 leaders Joe Public shrug off W Connection 4-3 and maintain the Macoya based club’s position at the top of the table following Round One Match Day Six matches in the 2011 Oasis Youth Pro League.

Bertrand first leveled the scores 3-3 in the 61st minute followed by the winner in the 81st minute to extend Joe Public’s winning run to six from six matches.

This after Marcus Gomez (2nd minute) and Dwight Quintero (4th minute) early goals for the Lions were erased by Connection’s Rondell Phillip (21st minute) and Neil Benjamin Jr. (50th minute).

Kareem Garcia then gave the visitors a 3-2 lead in the 55th minute; however victory was snatched by Bertrand’s second half double.

Joe Public (18 points) at the top of the standings, now enjoys a six point gap, trailed by Adam’s Construction San Juan Jabloteh (12 points) in second and Connection (12 points) in third.

Other U-17 matches saw Jabloteh enjoy a 3-1 win over North East Stars, fourth positioned St. Ann’s Rangers whip Police FC 4-0, fifth positioned T&TEC overpower Ma Pau SC 8-3 and seventh positioned Caledonia defeat FC SouthEnd 3-0.

Meantime in the U-13 and U-15 Divisions, W Connection continued its dominance to keep grip on the respective top spots with maximum 18 points.

Connection enjoyed the edge against Joe Public 6-5 in an eleven goal U-13 thriller and in the U-15s, outstanding Yafeu Rougier netted a hattrick (19th, 67th and 83rd minutes) and Mark Phillip (25th minute) to give the visitors a 4-0 victory.
