SHAQUILLE BERTRAND netted a second-half double as Joe Public edged W Connection 4-3, in a see-saw Under-17 affair, in Round One Match Day Six of the Oasis Youth Pro League last Sunday.
The victory was Joe Public’s sixth straight win, as they maintained their 100-percent record, with San Juan Jabloteh and Connection both six points adrift.
Marcus Gomez (second minute) and Dwight Quintero (fourth) gave the league leaders a two-goal edge before Connection stormed back with strikes from Rondell Phillip (21st), Neil Benjamin (50th) and Kareem Garcia (55th).
But there was another decisive twist to this game, this time in Joe Public’s favour, as Bertrand was on hand to score twice, in the 62nd and 81st, to extend his team’s unbeaten run.
Jabloteh cruised past North East Stars 3-1 with Shaquille Holder (35th), Kevin Lewis (58th) and Akeem Garcia (60th) finding the back of the net for Jabloteh, while Mickel Williams pulled back a late consolation for North East, in the 82nd.
St Ann’s Rangers trounced Police 4-0, with an own goal (49th), a pair from Dylon King (70th and 79th) and Jamal Williams (85th) doing the damage.
Caledonia AIA whipped cellar-placed FC South End 3-0, courtesy Dereck Joseph (16th), Andell Andrews (57th) and Lester Matthews (87th) but the most lopsided result was earned by TTEC, who crushed Ma Pau 8-3.
Shackeil Henry notched a hat-trick (15th, 42nd and 46th), while Akeem Julien (21st and 57th) and Lashawn Marcano (44th and 72nd) each netted a pair. Paul Jones (82nd) got the other item for TTEC, while Trevin Latapy (ninth), Myles Yorke (79th) and Kwesi Allen (84th) replied for Ma Pau, who lost their sixth in a row.
