Be afraid of the big bad Wolfes

"I can't wait for the new season to start" said Sancho. "Last season saw North East rejoin the Pro League and we hit all of the targets we aimed for on and off the field.

We got stronger in the second half of the season and part of that improvement was the signing of Anton Wolfe." The 27 year old striker joined North East for his third spell at the club from Ma Pau, where he had aleady hit the target 18 times.

"Wolfey is a real handful for defenders. I often played against him during National Team training, so I know how difficult he is to play against."

Wolfe was a member of the 2006 World Cup squad and has represented T&T on 23 occasions. "The time is right for Anton to really push on now.

He was the Pro Leagues top scorer in 2006 with 16 goals for Jabloteh, and we expect at least that many from him this season. We've ask him and fellow striker Sean Fraser for 25 goals between them, and I'm confident they will achieve this."

Sancho also stated his faith in Antons brother, Glenton Wolfe. The 29 year old defender is also in his third spell with North East Stars and last season won both the Player of the Season and the Players Player of the Season.

"To win both awards is remarkable and shows the respect he has earned from both players and staff" said Sancho. "Even though he was carrying an injury, he still put himself forward and played through the pain.

Its hard to see why Glenton has only played five times for the National team, but I'm hoping Mr Pfister will take a look at Glenton, as I'm convinced his strength and tenacity will be an asset to the national squad."

Asked about his predictions for North East Stars in the coming season, Sancho said " Of course, we have to be aiming for a top two finish. The Caribbean Club Championships and CONCACAF have to be our targets.

And we seemed to have a knack of reaching domestic finals, reaching three last season. We still have a lot of work to do on the field, but we have good coaching staff and we've spotted some great new talent in our trials.

As a club, we will continue to embark on groundbreaking community programmes and we have several exciting projects coming up. Our aim is to build the North East Stars brand into a national and Caribbean wide force that will attract players and supporters from across the country and overseas.

The Caribbean really doesn't have any big name clubs. We want DIRECTV North East Stars to be known across the region. In order for the Pro League to be stronger, we must be able to attract top Caribbean players without necesarily paying huge wages.

We have also noticed the benefits of Mr Pfisters' national team training on Akiel Guevera, Kaydion Gabriel & Jeromie Williams. They are looking sharper and more focused and this bodes well for the National Team."

Sancho feels that the T&T Pro League is at a crucial stage of its development. "Its a good league to play in. There is a lot of parity which means many matches could go either way.

This can only be a good thing for spectators. It won't take a lot for the numbers of spectators to increase, which in turn will bring more sponsors.

The Super Friday double headers were successful last season and we hope there will be other initiatives from the league this season."

Sancho pointed out that part of North Easts' success last season came from the backing of strong sponsors. "DIRECTV have been great.

They've supported us in so many ways. Even the staff are part of North Easts' Barmy Army! This year, Bernard Pantin and DIRECTV are even more involved with the club and are determined to see professional football return to Sangre Grande as soon as possible.

We also have great support from Carib and Toyota, and of course Japs Fried Chicken, without whom we could not achieve our aims. We're still looking for more sponsors as we have lots to achieve with our community programmes.
