Yafeu Rougier, the nephew of former national captain, Anthony Rougier came back to haunt his old club as he netted a hat-trick for W Connection in a 3-0 shut-out of South End in the Under-15 Division of the Oasis Youth Pro League on Thursday.
Rougier, who moved to W Connection at the start of the season, netted in the 14th, 34th and 38th minute at St Augustine Secondary Ground, to secure an 11th straight win from as many matches for his club.
W Connection improved to maximum 33 points with the victory, three behind rival Adams’ Construction San Juan Jabloteh which trounced Ma Pau 4-0 led by a double from Akeem Garcia at Carenage Recreation Ground, Haig Street.
At the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya, host bmobile Joe Public was made to work very hard to maintain its perfect winning record in the Under-17 age-group. Joe Public looked set for a straight forward victory when Nicholas Marcano netted the opener in the 16th minute but Akeem Julien replied for T&TEC five minutes later.
However, with ten minutes left in the match, Antonio Auguste conjured up the winner for Joe Public to push its points tally to 33 from 11 matches, eight clear of Jabloteh which was a similar 2-1 victor over Ma Pau, thanks to a second-half double from Mario Kissoon.
The race is a little closer in the U-13 Division where W Connection enjoys a four-point cushion over Joe Public after both clubs enjoy easy wins. W Connection defeated South End 2-0 and Joe Public blasted T&TEC 8-0 with Triston Perrotte and Niam Lewis scoring two goals each.
Third placed Jabloteh (23 points) slipped further behind after a 1-1 draw with Ma Pau. Kishon Alexander opened the scoring for Ma Pau in the 52nd minute but Kyle Green replied for Jabloteh in the 64th minute to earn a share of the points.
