St. Ann’s Rangers and Caledonia AIA were unable to get ahead of each other in all three age groups of Sunday’s 2011 Oasis Youth Pro League Round Two Match Day Three clashes with drawn results.
It was a similar situation with gridlock throughout most parts of western Trinidad on Sunday, as huge cross sections of the population tried to make their way into Chaguarams to witness the first ever Red Bull Flug Tag in the Caribbean. But in the end, thousands were left stuck in traffic, failing to get ahead of each other, disappointed and wishing for wings.
For Rangers playing hosts to Caledonia in the nearby Mucurapo Secondary Ground, the results got off on a 2-2 draw in the U13s followed by 3-3 in the U15s and ended 1-1 in the U17s.
Jalani Brown(65th minute) and Che Benny(69th minute) scored in the U13s for Rangers to come from behind after Caledonia failed to hold on to a 2-0 advantage with goals by Jean-Marc Jackman(11th minute) and Tekey Hoyce(60th minute) in the U13s.
In the U15s, Jevon Quamina(18th and 54th minutes) equalized twice for Rangers, meeting items scored by Caledonia’s Leland Archer(12th minute) and Sean Bonval(36th minute). Rangers then went ahead in the 65th minute through Mattheaus Williams’ strike but five minutes later Jamal Philbert locked the scores at 3-3.
And in the U17s, Caledonia got the go ahead goal in the 20th minute through Kevin McLean and it stood the advantage fifty-five minutes when Dillon King equalized for the home side in the 75th minute for a 1-1 finish.
The Rangers are third on the U13s, U15s and U17s standings, while Caledonia occupies fifth on the U13s and U15s and a disappointing 8th position on the U17s standings.
Joe Public U17 back to winning ways; Jabloteh jumps ahead of Connection in U15
The U17 standing is led by Joe Public with 36 points and returning to winning form following last weekend’s 1-0 defeat against Adams Construction San Juan Jabloteh.
Joe Public trashed Ma Pau SC 7-1 on Sunday at the TSTT Ground, Queens Park Savannah with Leon Gill earning himself a beavertrick with items in the 1st, 19th, 49th and 68th minutes. Dwight Quintero added a double with items in the 56th and 65th minutes while Antonio Auguste wrapped up the scoring in the 88th minute.
Kwesi Allen netted the lone for the tenth positioned Ma Pau in the 70th minute.
Joe Public is followed by Jabloteh(31 points). The San Juan club registered a 3-1 win over W Connection with goals by Mario Kissoon, Justin Garcia and Akeem Garcia.
In the earlier match, Jabloteh climbed to the top of the U15 standings with 36 points and a better goal difference than Connection after defeating the Couva based club 2-1 with Jelani Parkinson(39th minute) and Akeem Garcia(52nd minute) scoring for the home side.
It was the first defeat suffered by Connection U15s this season slipping into second despite its 36 points.
However it was Connection that had the started the day brightly against the Jabloteh, with the U13 leaders getting a comfortable 3-0 win to enjoy a seven-point gap at the top with 37 points.
Kareem Riley netted a double with items in the 20th and 56th minutes after Bradlee Lee Foon opened the scoring in the 17th minute.
Connection is followed by Joe Public in second with 30 points on the U13 standings.
