Trinidad and Tobago Under-20 men’s footballers will depart Miami for Kingston today ahead of the final round of CONCACAF Qualifiers for the 2015 FIFA Under 20 Men’s World Cup in New Zealand.
The squad, under head coach Derek King, completed their second training fixture on Monday night, losing 2-1 to the Weston United Alumni at Vizcaya Park in Miramar. Akeem Garcia was the lone scorer for T&T which also fell 2-0 to a US Soccer Development Eleven on the weekend.
“Game two was a decent exercise for us. We started the game well. We conceded two late goals. We are finalising our starting eleven and the first team in this game played quite well,” King said.
“Regardless of the result, we saw good ball movement and we were solid defensively which is important for us at the international level,” the coach added.
“I would like to thank the Ministry of Sport and the TTFA for allowing us the opportunity for the training camp because at this level the guys need this international preparation,” he said.
“I think come Friday we will be ready for the opening game against Jamaica. We will take each game as a final but our first focus will be on the opening game versus Jamaica,” the T&T coach concluded.
