Midfielder Sean De Silva proved to be one the workhorses in the  Olympic team’s recent series in Dominica where they reached the final Caribbean Olympic round of qualification in November.

De Silva provided the corner that led to Cameron Roget’s opening goal in the 4-0 win over Dominica. De Silva has played for every national since making his debut for the Under 15s.

He made his senior debut in a friendly with Panama under Russell Latapy and also played for the Under 17s and Under 20s at the respective World Cups in South Korea and Egypt.

Now he’s aiming to help take the Under 23s to the 2012 Olympics. “I think we have what it takes. We showed maturity in Dominica and the chemistry improved with each match,” said De Silva.

“There were some new players but we pulled it together. I think  we can become an even better unit and get out of the next round and then give it our best in the Concacaf final round.

“The main thing was getting by the first round and now we have to stay focused for the remainder of the campaign. The coach (Angus Eve) has been working with us to ensure we improve and get it right for the tougher teams in the competition.”

T&T will clash with St Kitts/Nevis, Suriname and Cuba in the next round with the top two teams advancing  to the Concacaf finals in the United States next year.
