The Real Madrid Foundation, in association with LNG production company Atlantic, is hosting a special three-day training workshop for coaches involved in the Atlantic Real Madrid Foundation Social Sports School. The workshop was launched yesterday at the St. Dominic’s Home in Belmont and will end tomorrow.

Spanish coach Victor de Arce from the Real Madrid Foundation will lead the sessions.  de Arce, who has postgraduate training in sports and psychology, will help equip the coaches with skills and knowledge that will enable them to more efficiently train and mentor the children who attend the social sports school.

Eleven (11) coaches from T&T will participate in the workshop. Aaron Lawrence and Milton Stewart, two coaches from Jamaica who are attached to that country’s Real Madrid Football School for Integration, will also be in attendance.

Lawrence is a former goalkeeper for the Reggae Boyz, Jamaica’s national senior team. The Atlantic Real Madrid Foundation Social Sports School is a youth development and football training initiative for underprivileged children between the ages of 7-14, selected from schools in Port of Spain and environs.
Launched last November, the school is based at the St. Dominic’s Children’s Home and is managed by the Ron La Forest Soccer Academy.

Although the children participating are exposed to football training, the school’s primary focus is on building values and good citizenship.
