In what was a highly entertaining encounter on Thursday, Yara took on next door neighbours Industrial Gases Limited on match day four of the SIS Industrial Football League.
It was all IGL in the first half of this encounter as they controlled the game well with their passing and deft touches. Captain Kareem Joseph gave his fans something to shout about early on when he found the back of the net for his team.
He added his second item a few minutes later effectively silencing the Yara camp. At the start of the second half, Yara was again dominated by the total football which was displayed by IGL mimicking an almost “Barca” brand of football.
However, it took just a moment of brilliance by Yara’s Hershal Brown to bring Yara right back into this game with a finesse shot that left IGL’s custodian rooted to the ground. Moments later Brown was at it again this time showing great intelligence by making an off the ball run that left him in acres of space with just him and the keeper at his mercy.
He made no mistake and sent the Yara fans into a frenzy. Coming from two goals down, Yara was able to pull off a well deserved tie. In the other encounter it was goals galore in what was essentially a lop-sided encounter between NGC and PCS Nitrogen.
NGC had the disadvantage of playing a man short for most of the game which allowed PCS Nitrogen to go ahead as early as the sixth minute when Miguel Heeraman opened the scoring. Three more goals were added, all by Kevin Johnson, achieving the first hat trick of the competition.
NGC pressed on though as they passed well especially in the midfield but their finishing left much to be desired. They were able to pull one back through Shae Bethel but it was too late to mount any kind of comeback. PCS came away resounding victors winning four goals to one.
