The final group match of the SIS Industrial Football League did not fail to deliver on excitement and intensity as Industrial Plant Services Methanol Division took on T&TEC on Wednesday.

T&TEC, who are currently in fourth position in the table needed at least a point to secure qualification while IPSL MX would only advance with a win.

Both teams started strong in difficult conditions at Macaulay Park in California, attacking the ball and putting together some excellent passes.

It was IPSL MX who went ahead just before the half when Akil Noriega blasted in a free kick from just outside the area that dissected the wall and left the keeper flatfooted.

In the second half, it was clear that MX was determined to defend their slim advantage but it took less than ten minutes into the second half for T&TEC to equalise.

Anderson Abdullah exhibiting a wonderful individual effort beating the IPSL defense with a splendid run that put him in shooting position where he made no mistake.

T&TEC held on for the draw and have squeezed through to the quarterfinals at the expense of IPSL MX. So the quarterfinals are now set and was scheduled to kick off yesterday with two matches.

Group A winners Plipdeco will lock horns with T&TEC in a rematch of last year’s finals while Yara Sports Club will take on PCS Nitrogen.

On Tuesday, hosts SIS will try to overcome Group B winners National Energy Corporation and The National Gas Company will battle Industrial Plant Services AUM Division. All matches kickoff at 4.45pm at the Plipdeco Ground in Point Lisas.
