COCA All-Stars needed a late goal from Matthew Robinson on Wednesday to beat the winless Eastern Dynamo 2-1 as action continued in the Caribbean Welders Fishing Pond Football League.
After a goalless first-half, Coca burst into life with Dorean Robinson firing them ahead with a clinical strike. Eastern Dynamo, second from bottom in the table, clawed their way back in the match courtesy Nkosi Brown who netted the leveller. Matthew would decide the contest, however, finding himself at the right place to score and hand his team all three points.
In Tuesday’s match, Blu Magic and AC Problems battled to a 1-1 draw.
Kitwana Abosi put Blu Magic early in the first half but Kendon Sutton produced a stunning equaliser with a well-taken free-kick past the despairing Blu Magic goalkeeper. There were no further goals in the second half as both teams settled for a share of the spoils.
On Thursday, Quash Trace Ball Players thumped last-placed Fishing Pond All-Stars 5-1. Action resumes today with a doubleheader featuring Eastern Dynamo vs Xpress Overcome (2 pm) and North Oropouche against Dream Team (4 pm) in the latter game.
Tomorrow, Coca All-Stars play 100 % Trini (2 pm) while Fishing Pond All-Stars take on Sweaters FC (4 pm) in the other fixture. Teams are advised to be on time as matches will start promptly.
