PEOPLES UNITED Fellowship and Cumuto Strike Force claimed the respective First Division and Premier Division crowns, as the Churches Football League Champion of Champions Finals took place on Saturday at the St Mary’s Ground, St Clair.

In the first game of the double-header, Peoples United Fellowship brushed aside SFX Amen 4-1 to take the First Division trophy.

Mchail St Louis put Peoples United ahead in the fourth minute but they struggled to make any further impact on the scoresheet until the 72nd minute, courtesy of Sean Andrews.

Dion Cuffy Joseph reduced the deficit to 2-1 for Amen but Peoples United stepped up a gear, and got a third goal from Keyon Sheppard in the 75th and the game-clinching fourth from Jamal Burke in the 80th.

In the Premier Division Champion of Champions title match, Cumuto claimed the crown for the first time, as they dethroned 2013 winners Global Encounter Ministries (GEMS) 2-1 in the latter game at St Clair.

Stephen Guerra put Cumuto ahead in the 35th minute while Josiah Warrick doubled the lead in the 65th.

Arsenio Isaac pulled one back for GEMS in the 80th but, try as they did, they were unable to get the crucial second goal and handed the title to Cumuto.

Ironically, GEMS and Cumuto will meet tomorrow in the final match of the 2014 season.

The two teams will square off in the Grand Knockout Final at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya from 4.30 pm. Both teams have met twice during the season, with each team earning one victory over the other.

So the Grand Knockout decider will be an opportunity for one of these squads to claim a final piece of bragging rights over the other.
