Old School picked up their first win of the season over the weekend in a come-from-behind victory over former champions Boys Town in the Caribbean Welders Fishing Pond Football League at the North Oropouche Recreation Ground. Old School were indebted to their goalie Akiel Timothy for sparking a phenomenal second half comeback to jumpstart their campaign.
Boys Town took the lead in the first period through a thunderous free-kick by Paul White and maintained their advantage to the break.
But Old School drew level courtesy their versatile goalkeeper. Timothy, emulating custodians such as Jose Luis Chilavert of Paraguay, came up for a free-kick and expertly curled it into the back of the net.
Inspired by their ‘keeper, Old School struck twice through Carlos Garcia and Shane Frederick to turn the match in their favour.
Also recently, Deron Lewis continued his hot streak with his seventh and eighth goals of the season in a 2-0 victory over Coca All-Stars.
Fresh off back-to-back hat-tricks, Lewis looks to be running away with the Golden Boot award as he came within one goal of a third straight treble.
In other results, Matura whipped North Oropouche 4-2 while Eclipse and Gremio played to a 1-1 draw.
Dream Team stayed unbeaten after a clinical 2-0 performance over Manzanilla United while North Oropouche stunned Coca All-Stars 3-2. Gremio got their first win with a 3-0 result by default over Matura who were late for their encounter.
Yesterday, Eclipse took on Dragon.
Action continues this weekend with Manzanilla vs G Madrid at 3pm on Saturday followed by Take That and Cool It vs Dragon at 5pm. On Sunday, it’s Coca All-Stars vs Dream Team at 3pm and Boys Town vs Gremio at 5pm
