Take That and Cool It made easy of ZNS Tamana United with a comfortable 5-1 victory on July 22 as Group A kicked off in the Guaico Tamana 9-a-side Football League at the La Tosca Recreational grounds.
Take That and Cool It’s Kendes Garcia was ready for battle, registering the league’s first hattrick.
Garcia scored his treble within the first 56 minutes of the game to give his team a comfortable three-goal cushion.
Garcia’s teammate Jason Vialva joined the party with two more in quick succession to complete the rout. ZNS Tamana United were able to scrape in a last minute consolation. In last Sunday’s action, the first game in Group B saw the points split between Biche United and Valencia Lions. Biche United surprisingly gave up a two-goal advantage after Alec Ali and Deon Lewis had fired their team ahead. They were placed at a disadvantage when Derron Lewis was given a red card in the 47th minute, opening a pathway for their rivals to get back into the match. Almost immediately after the red card, Valencia Lion’s Kristian Maloney seized the opportunity when he converted the first goal of his brace from the penalty spot, then later salvaged a point for his team nine minutes before the final whistle. Also last weekend, the Guaico Tamana Under 18 League was launched with a one-day round robin tournament to kick things off.
The eventual winners were Blu Magic of Guaico Sangre Grande, who got the better of Valencia United U-18 3-2 on penalty kicks in the final.
The six-team league saw action commenced last Wednesday with Tamana United U-18 tying 1-1 with North Eastern College U-18.
Action continues in the senior division tomorrow with Pinto United against Old School at 5pm, and closing off the long weekend’s activity is Biche United vs Dream
