The most outstanding team will earn a place in the Milo Champions Cup.

Teams can register eight players and each team is required to have at least two girls.

It will be a five-a-side tournament using hockey size goal posts and matches will last 20 minutes.

Interested teams can register online, from Monday, by searching Milo Caribbean on Facebook and can also register by calling 222-6029 or sending an email to milochampionscuptt@gmail.com.

Damian Cooper, who will be an assessment coach at the trials in T&T, spoke about the prizes that will be up for grabs, “The prize is a trip to Barcelona for the eight players (and) they will also be given medals as keepsakes of course.

“The second and third place winners will also be getting medals along with some additional stuff that we are going to include, things like hampers etcetera, but the big prize of course will be the trip to Barcelona.”

Sean Wallace, business executive officer Nestle Anglo Dutch Caribbean region, said health and sport is an important part of the organisation. “...over the last eight overs we have really tried to strengthen our association with youth sports and in terms of youth sports development, but more importantly that we understand that good healthy nutrition is the basis for healthy children and of course healthier adults.”

Patrice Charles, acting director of Physical Education and Sport at the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, commended Nestle and Milo for the initiative and said the ministry is always willing to assist.

Charles said, “We at the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs are always pleased to partner with forward looking companies such as Nestle and positive brands such as Milo that are seeking towards providing opportunities not simply through your products...but also helping organisations and partnering with organisations and quality brands to give our children, which is our future, good experiences and healthy experiences in sports.”
