BETHEL WHIPPED Philadelphia 3-1 in the Premiership Division as the second round of the Churches’ Football League began on August 29.
Nickson Hill, Nichell James and Sule Rivers were the goal-getters for Bethel while Lyndon Williams pulled one back for Philadelphia.
Genesis avenged an earlier loss to Point Nazarene to prevail 4-2, with Allister Pascall scoring twice while Ceon Valcin and Clinton Joseph added one apiece for Genesis. Jerberry Francis got both items for Nazarene.
Kareem Perry got his name on the score-sheet as GEMS pipped Daybreak 1-0 while Curepe Amen squeezed past Woodbrook by a similar 1-0 margin with Anton Spring on target. In the First Division, West End demolished Divine Encounter 10-2. Kareem Simon netted a beaver-trick while Jaron Nurse notched a pair for West End, with Jason Dos Santos, Nkosi Barton, Kyle Andrews and Akim Logan chipping in with one apiece.
Dillon Peterson and Godwin Taitt were on target for Divine Encounter.
The other game in the First Division saw Reformation Life Centre, courtesy of a double from Oral Burgess, eking out a 2-1 win over Calvary Angels, who got a strike from Shelwynton Driggs.
The first round ended on August 22 with Daybreak defeating Philadelphia 3-1 in a Premiership encounter. Wendell Chapman, Kemron Phillips and Dwayne O’Connor netted for Daybreak while Richard Williams replied for Philadelphia.
In a closely-fought fixture, Bethel edged Point Nazarene 4-3, with Kevon De Matas scoring twice while Joseph Drayton and Jameke Danzell added one apiece for the winners. Miles Best, Kennis Williams and Edwin Mark were the goal-getters for Point Nazarene.
Brendon Caesar and Jevon Simon each scored twice to guide GEMS to a 6-0 hammering of Woodbrook, as Dillon Lewis and Kareem Perry added one each.
And Genesis was held to a 2-2 draw by Curepe Amen, as Ceon Valcin scored a late double to ensure a tie for Genesis, after earlier strikes by Ancel Maloney and Sean Charles.
