ARIMA Youth Movement (AYM) captured the Patrick Pamphille Memorial KO title last Friday evening at the Arima velodrome where the Arima Football League brought down the curtain on competitions in their open division for the 2009 season.

Striker Michael Hospedales, after having two abortive attempts, opened the scoring in as early as the 10th minute to set AYM on their way. Kevon Cornwall stretched their lead 10 minutes later as AYM dominated the exchanges in the first half. However, an improved second half showing by Ball Masters resulted in spectators enjoying a more competitive encounter as Christopher Young halved the deficit but Javon Rushford sealed victory for AYM who were deserving 3-1 winners of the knock-out title.

Before kick-off Mayor Adrian Cabralis, accompanied by League President, Carlton Williams, met the match officials and players. Preceding the final was the opening league match in the Over-40 Division in which 16 teams have been entered. Carlos Garcia’s lone strike earned Cosmos victory and full points against Sweaters.

An appreciative crowd, inclusive of a large number of players of yesteryear, was on hand to witness the proceedings. The competition in this division will be contested at the same venue on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays with a kick-off time of 6 pm.
