Newcomers meet archrivals Gons S and early pacemaker, Mahaica United clashes with Cap-de-Ville Lions today as the Southwest Football Superleague moves into high gear with the third round of matches throughout the region.

Both matches will be played on the Fyzabad Recreation Ground at Fanny Village, from 3.30 pm. Several key match-ups are scheduled in Point Fortin, Palo Seco Fyzabad, and La Brea, featuring the top teams in each community.

The action shifts to La Brea tomorrow with a major contest between La Brea League champion, Vance River Juniors against Vance River Ball Stars at the Point D’Or Recreation Ground.

Two weeks ago Juniors beat Ball Stars 1-0 in the final of the La Brea League and both teams have had mixed fortunes in the Superleague so far. In the first round of matches Vance River Juniors convincingly defeated Cap-de-Ville Lions 5-2 while Ball stars lost 2-1 to Mahaica United.

Over at Palo Seco, Hole Boys meet Los Bajos United in another clash between neighbouring communities. The Southwest Superleague is the first phase of a community development project entitled Building Communities through Sport, which is organized by the La Brea Sport Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs.

Sponsorship has also been obtained from several companies in the energy sector including Petrotrin, NGC, NEC, Alutrint and Lake Asphalt.
