Player of the Tournament Marlique Asoon scored six goals in four matches to help the National Under 15 Girls football team play undefeated in the third edition of the Waterloo Girls Under 17 One Day Football Tournament at Waterloo Secondary School on Saturday.

Asoon scored doubles in each of her team’s first two matches; a 5-0 whipping of Arima Girls and a 4-0 win over Crown Trace United.

Shanyce Harding, Shari Thomas and Brittany Prescott also made the scoresheet against Arima while Shanicar Diamond and Shanice Garcia chipped in with one each against Crown Trace.

Asoon scored again in the Under 15’s 2-0 win over Tunapuna Soccer Academy and again as they defeated the defending champions Waterloo Starlets 2-0. Harding and Shanna Camejo managed the other goals respectively.

The Starlets had to settle for second place after defeating Tunapuna Soccer Academy 2-0 (Marissa Adams & Renee Mike) and Arima 2-0 (Frances Baptiste & Keziah Rivers).

They then drew 0-0 with Crown Trace United. Tunapuna Soccer Academy emerged as third place with a 1-1 draw against Arima and a 1-0 (Rosalie DoLamaille) win over Crown Trace United.

Trophies and medals sponsored by Hakim Hosein General Contractors Limited were presented to the winning teams by coach of the National U-15 girls team Marlon Charles and president of Waterloo Institute of Soccer Players and principal of Waterloo Secondary School Raymond Jurawan.
