Chaguanas Mayor Orlando Nagessar knocked footballers from the area for their tardiness. The Mayor was addressing the launch of the Haagen Dazs Chaguanas Borough Cup 2010.

Nagessar said he was disappointed that only three teams showed up for the launch on Saturday afternoon although 16 were invited. The event was carded to kick off at 3 pm but got rolling around 4.30 pm. Nagessar said players should exhibit more discipline.

He said the problem was not new since players from Central have the habit of showing up late for most events including prize giving functions.

The mayor congratulated the sponsors for pumping capital into the development of sports in the borough. The event is a knockout competition and would be played at four venues across the borough over three Sundays starting October 10. The competition involves 16 teams, two each from the borough’s eight districts.
