IT TOOK penalties for 1st FC Santa Rosa to advance in the Emerald Apartments & Plaza Cup in the Eastern Football Association.

They ousted Malabar FC 3-1 on spot kicks.

Michael Hospedales gave Malabar a 19th minute lead in Tuesday’s game at the Larry Gomes Stadiuym training field, but Jovan Rochford found the equaliser for Santa Rosa in the 29th.

Robert Alexis put Santa Rosa ahead in the 63rd minute onlyu for Hayden Devenish to grab an equaliser in the 71.

Upper Santa Cruz dumped out Prisons 2-1 on goals by Kendell Daniel and Ako David at the Arnold Dwarika ground. Calvin Charles scored for the losing team. Carib FC also had to rely on penalties to advance, after they played to a 0-0 draw with St John’s United at St Augustine Secondary ground. They won the kick out 4-2.

But FC Maloney advanced the easy way when Athletico Sports Institute defaulted their match which was scheduled for the Maloney ground.
