UNION UNITED edged Panhandle Youth Movement, via kicks from the penalty spot, to cop the ‘senior’ division knockout title at the bpTT Mayaro Football League recently.

No goals were allowed by either team in regulation time but the fans at the Mayaro Recreation Ground saw Union’s goalkeeper Jason McIntosh producing timely saves to ensure a 4-2 win for his team.

The prize-giving ceremony is due to take place tomorrow at the Mayaro Resource Centre, starting at 2 pm.

Mayaro Spurs are tipped to take the lion’s share of titles, including the Senior Division and Under-18 championships.

President of the Mayaro Football Association Razack Jan said the standard of play was encouraging, and he was pleased with the new players who are excelling at the League.

“We can expect a resurgence in the game in Mayaro in the years ahead,” said Jan.

Tomorrow’s function will also feature the award ceremony for the bpTT Mayaro Netball League.
