Police and Back Street will meet in the $15,000 final of the Santa Cruz Football Organisation’s Monteco Cup League final after contrasting semifinal wins at the Brian Lara Recreation Ground, Sam Boucaud, Upper Santa Cruz on Saturday.
In the first semifinal, played on very soaked surfaced Kerry Frederick banged in a second-half double to inspire a Back Street 4-2 triumph over North Coast United after trailing 2-0. Kevin Hernandez had netted a goal in each half for North Coast to lead 2-0.
However, North Coast also wasted other opportunities to put away the match while Back Street was also guilty of squandering a few chances until Kerry Daniel netted to give the crowd favourites some hope.
Despite some questionable substitutions, Kerry Frederick then netted to draw Back Street level in the entertaining contest before Daniel scored from a quickly taken free-kick to put his team ahead for the first-time in the match.
Midfielder Ronald St Louis who replaced Frederick sealed the come-back victory for Back Street when he slammed home a penalty to book a spot in the final against rivals Police. The lawmen got a goal each from Christopher Samuel, A Samuel, S Edwards and T Titre in its 4-2 beating of Dathea.
