MINISTER of Works Jack Warner yesterday provided the staff of Morvant Elements Football Club with 15 footballs.
The gesture was made possible with the help of Member of Parliament for Laventille East, Donna Cox. The Laventille East Member of Parliament said that when she was approached by the staff of Morvant Elements for assistance, she immediately contacted Warner who she described as he close friend and colleague to assist.
“Warner agreed to provide assistance for the Morvant football club by means of giving them footballs and we are so grateful for it,” said Cox yesterday.
She also made a plea to Minister of Sport Anil Roberts to upgrade the two recreation grounds in the Laventille area. Cox revealed that she wrote to Roberts over a year ago for assistance to make repairs to the grounds so that the facility can be used effectively. She explained that the surface of the grounds are in dire need of repair.
The Minister of Works wished the staff and members of Morvant Elements the best of luck in the forthcoming season. He urged the club to continue their hard work and training at young footballers.
The Morvant Elements football team campaigns in the Northern Football Association League (NFA) and provides many young players with avenues for development.
