With WASA FC suffering a shock home defeat to 1976 FC Phoenix, reigning champions and 2011/2012 treble winner bmobile Joe Public simlutaneously soared back into pole position with a 2-0 win over winless Biche United in the blink/bmobile National Super League, on Sunday evening.

Second half goals from Brent Sanchez (49th) and Keston Bibby-Cummings (69th) sealed a fourth win for Joe Public, at the Biche Recreation Ground, with the conclusion of Match Day Five.

As a result, Joe Public jumped to first position on 12 points, dropping previous leader WASA into tied-second on 10 points, after the “Waterboys”, were flattened by a 2-1 loss to Tobago’s Phoenix, at WASA Ground, St Joseph.

Phoenix took the lead through a Nigel Thomas effort just on the quarter-hour mark, before WASA levelled the score with former US-based veteran forward Darin Lewis’s effort in the 27th minute.

NSL nominee for 2011 MVP, Darren Mitchell scored for Phoenix on the hour mark, and with no further response from the “Waterboys”, the Tobago team sealed its second win in four matches.

Two other teams, Westside Super Starz (1-1 draw with Eagles United) and Real Maracas (3-1 winners over Siparia Spurs), advanced to 10 points, level with WASA for second place.

FC Santa Rosa moved up from eighth position to sixth with a 2-1 come from behind win over Club Sando. Forward Jason Boodram opened for a previously mid-table Club Sando in the 25th minute, rounding off the first half.

Former Joe Public and US-based Simba Aberdeen netted the equaliser early in the second half, before 17 year-old and former national youth captain Duane Muckette won the match with 10 minutes left for Santa Rosa.
