WASA FC continued its impressive run in the blink/bmobile National Super League after recording a commanding 3-0 away victory over Club Sando, at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella, yesterday.
The victory kept the “Waterboys” three points ahead (40 points) of nearest challenger Westside Superstarz, which also eased past its opponent Defence Force, 3-1, at St Anthony’s College Ground, Westmoorings.
Three of its top forwards Jahhan Hernandez, Glen Walker and Fabian Garcia were all on target for WASA. However, they left it late as the opening item came with just more than 15 minutes remaining, before Walker (80th) and Garcia (86th) put the match to bed.
Westside, meanwhile, kept in the title chase after easing to victory with an early surge, which saw all three of its goals scored in the first half. Akeel Gilbert scored in the 6th minute, before Christon Freitas doubled up in the 31st.
Gilbert found his second and Westside’s third with a strike two minutes before the half. Defence Force never managed to mount a comeback, but pulled one back in the dying moments through a spot kick from Levi Serries.
The other league challenger, defending champion bmobile Joe Public was not in action as its clash with 1976 FC Phoenix, had to be postponed as a result of the CFU tournament, which concluded in Tobago yesterday.
That match will be played at a date to be announced, along with the other postponed fixture between Stokely Vale and Real Maracas. FC Santa Rosa and Siparia Spurs were in action last evening with the match ending post press time.
However, newly promoted Biche United and Eagles United played in the day’s early fixture, with the former taking its third win of the season via a 4-2 scoreline.

WASA FC got three late goals to spank Club Sando 3-0, at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella, on Sunday to remain in first place atop the points standings in the Blink/bmobile National Super League.
It took WASA 73 minutes to break the deadlock, and they did so courtesy of Jahhan Hernandez. Glen Walker doubled the lead in the 80th and Fabian Garcia sealed the deal with four minutes of regulation time remaining.
Westside Superstarzs FC moved up a notch to second place after getting the better of Defence Force 3-1.
Akell Gilbert (sixth and 43rd) recorded a pair, while Christon Freitas (31st) added the other. Levi Serries got a late consolation for Defence Force in the 85th.
Biche United recorded their third win of the season when they rallied from two goals down to blank fellow strugglers Eagles United 4-2 at the Biche Recreation Ground.
Jairon Francis found the back of the net in the 19th and 21st to give Eagles the early ascendancy but Biche responded with a hat-trick from Maurice Billy (29th, 65th and 75th) while Kerrin Vincent completed the comeback in the 82nd.
Also on Sunday, FC Santa Rosa defeated Siparia Spurs 3-0 at the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) O’Meara campus, Arima.
Two games were postponed - Joe Public against 1976 FC Phoenix and Stokely Vale against Real Maracas.
Match Day 20 fixtures have been scheduled for November 25.
