A Stevonn Stoute hat-trick, along with a Kevon Woodley brace helped Malabar FC replace Guaya United for second spot, when the match day 13 in the blink/bmobile National Super League, on Sunday.

Malabar FC secured a 7-1 whipping of Tobago’s Stokely Vale, at UTT Ground, O’Meara, simultaneously with Guaya United’s second loss of the campaign, this time against another Tobago team, 1976 FC Phoenix, 2-1.

Phoenix took a 1-0 lead just after a half-hour, before Carlon Hughes levelled the score for Guaya in the 70th minute. Unfortunately for the visitors, Phoenix took a second lead almost immediately via an effort from LeJandro Williams.

Despite the loss, Guaya United will have the opportunity to once again return to second spot when it takes on Defence Force at Frederick Settlement Ground, Caroni, today, from 4 pm, in a rescheduled round one fixture.

There will be one other rescheduled fixture today with 1976 FC Phoenix hosts Real Maracas at Canaan, Bon Accord, at the same time.

Malabar currently sits two points behind Club Sando, which was on a bye on Sunday. A win today for Guaya will put the team ahead of Malabar and a single point behind the league leader.

Following today’s rescheduled matches, the league will take a break for the knockout round, which starts on Sunday. The results today will determine the placement in the standings, which will determine the knockout fixtures.
