Matura Re United striker, Irvin Reyes, says he is living his dream playing in the CNG National Super League 2015/2016 edition. Reyes, 31-year-old, has found the back of the net six times in five games this season which has seen his club at mid-table after seven games.
“The Super League is very competitive and challenging.
I’ve played for close to four years with Matura and the bonding is different (from other teams).
The meshing of the players and (relationship between) players and management is good,” he explained.
Training three times a week, Reyes believes Matura can continue their climb up the standings and finish high up the table.
And with a successful season, Reyes believes he can return to the Pro League where he once competed with North East Stars during their victorious 2004 campaign.
“I do think about it (playing in the Pro League). Right now once we keep winning we will get that exposure and people will see us,” he said.
Reyes, who also represents his home team Boys Town Strikers, thanked his community for always giving him that extra motivation to perform.
“It feels good knowing your community has your whole back and coming out and support.
They’re always there watching your game,” he added.
A fan of Barcelona and global superstar Lionel Messi, Reyes says he tries to copy the talented Argentine and revealed what makes him a good striker.
“My speed, technique in running and ability to score.
“Sometimes the team depends on you to come up with a magical moment or something special and I enjoy doing that,” he declared..
