Sports and Games FC Santa Rosa maintained their lead in the NGC Super League Premier Division on Sunday, but they were made to work by third-placed Matura Re United, who held them to a 3-3 draw when action in the competition continued over the weekend.
Rashad Griffith scored a hat-trick for the “Cannons” but it was not enough for the win, as Matura managed to equalise in the 56th minute and hold on for the draw. The win sees the Arima-based team stay top on goal difference.
Kerin Vincent opened the scoring in the 12th minute for Matura, however Griffith equalised ten minutes later, and then sent his team into the lead with two goals in the 47th and 52nd minutes.
Matura however pulled one back in the 54th minute through Vincent once more and Shervin Charles grabbed the equaliser two minutes later.
Second-placed Club Sando Moruga also managed a draw when they took on 1976 FC Phoenix. LeJandro Williams sent Phoenix into the lead on the half hour, and Dareem Remkhalawan restored parity in the 42nd minute for Club Sando.
Last season’s runners-up Guaya United FC enjoyed a 4-2 win over Siparia Spurs with Carlos Hughes netting a hattrick (24th, 33rd and 82nd), while Jody Allsop (72nd), scored the fourth item. Deon Collins (38th) and Kyle Thomas (71st) scored for Spurs.
Bethel United whipped WASA FC 4-0 with Densyl James (53rd), Jevon Williams (73rd), Kevonn Adams (83rd) and Travis Winchester getting on the scorecards. And Real Maracas FC enjoyed a 2-0 win over Police FC thanks to strikes from Ryan Stewart (53rd and 83rd).
Reigning champions Defence Force edged Petrotrin Palo Seco 4-3. Dexter Thornhill (25th) and Josimar Belgrave (45th, 74th and 81st) scored for the “Army” while Wayne Huyghue (34th and 41st) and Bevon Bass (71st) scored for Petrotrin.
Queen’s Park Cricket Club (QPCC) were finally able to enjoy a win when they saw their way past Marabella Family Crisis Centre 3-1, with Kevaughn John (9th and 27th) and Jared Bennett (63rd) getting on the scoresheet.
