Former champions Guaya United stand in the way as leaders Sports & Games FC Santa Rosa move closer to its first title after five years playing in the National Super League.
Leaders for most of the season, Santa Rosa hold a three points advantage over the chasing pack with just four matches to go, after shutting out Siparia Spurs 3-0 on Sunday last. Their title aspirations may hinge on Sunday’s key Marvin Lee Stadium match against former champions Guaya United, who hammered Police 7-0 on Sunday. Santa Rosa head coach Keith Look Loy acknowledges that this coming Sunday’s match is a key one.
“Guaya are former champions. Guaya also comes into the match with the confidence of having beat Police 7-0 and going into fourth place,” Look Loy said. “I expect it will be a difficult game. We will give them the respect they deserve.”
Look Loy credits having a consistent core of players over four seasons, as well as the recruitment of quality players in key positions, for their on-field success. He also credits sponsors Sports & Games for improved team administration.
“This is our best season in five years of the Super League,” Look Loy declared. “We brought in Keron Clarke and he has been scoring goals. We also recruited some solid guys at the back.”
