Trinidad and Tobago Super League (TTSL)- League One featured some surprising scorelines  in Round Six with many players making their debuts in the TTSL Team of the Week (TOTW).

Siparia Spurs were the biggest winners of the round after they notched their first win of the season in a 0-1 win over Cunupia FC. While Marlon Phillip scored a rocket in the final few minutes, the “Sand City Boys” had their teenage goalkeeper Ishmael Salam to thank for preserving their clean sheet.

Salam was phenomenal in goal, recording more than 10 saves as he single-handedly denied the Cunupia FC onslaught.

Salam’s skipper, Kevon Bascombe, ably assisted his younger counterpart but putting in a commendable performance in defence.

Joining him in the Team of the Week defence are FC Santa Rosa’s Marc Leslie, whose experience was key in maintaining a clean sheet against 1976 Phoenix FC in Tobago and Adisa Huston of UTT who notched two assists as his team thumped Police FC 6-0.

On the wings, the “Big Cannons” Nathan Julien put in a man of the match performance, while Guaya United continued their perfect start to the season with Kendes Garcia heralded as the star of the show against Bethel United at the Mt Gomery Recreation Ground. Garcia terrorized the Bethel defence and capped off his performance with a goal and an assist.

QPCC’s dynamic duo Nasyir Rodriquez and Devon Modeste put in goal scoring performances to turn the tide in the second half against Defence Force TTSL. Trailing 1-0 from a first half strike, Rodriguez pounced on some less than convincing defending to score from close range in the 66th minute. The evergreen Modeste then scored a thumping penalty a few minutes later to confirm the win for the Parkites.

In the rollercoaster match of the round, WASA FC’s Dwight Crichlow proved to be the difference maker. He latched onto a right sided cross from Daniel St Cyr to volley in his first item before rounding the Club Sando Moruga goal keeper a few minutes later, to score what would turn out to the game winner in a 4-3 affair.

TOTW Debutant, UTT’s  J’Deem Parris scored the only hat trick of the round against a struggling Police FC. The attacker was rampant and fluid alongside fellow Team of the Week player Dillon Bartholomew who recorded 2 goals and an assist.

Parris placed the ball into the bottom corner following a quick counter before scoring two more from close range with feeds from the impressive Adisa Huston and Isaiah Mejias.
