GUAYA UNITED got two goals apiece from Keston Frontin and Carlon Hughes as they humiliated Youth Stars 8-0 on Wednesday, at the Guayaguayare Recreation Ground, in the second round of the Caribbean Football Trust Limited (CFTL)- sponsored League Cup competition.

This tournament is being held under the auspices of the Trinidad and Tobago Super League.

Veteran defender Glenton Wolfe opened the scoring in the 13th minute, before Frontin (26th and 33rd) and Hughes (38th and 39th) got their names on the scoresheet. Kendes Garcia netted Guaya’s sixth in the 44th while Kevin Jagdeosingh (56th) and Russel Alfred (77th) ended the goal-scoring avalanche.

Another one-sided result occurred at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva, as, in the first game of a double-header, Cunupia FC trounced Siparia Spurs 4-1.

Striker Kevon Woodley, a member of the Trinidad and Tobago beach soccer team, netted a treble (13th, 30th and 90th) while Zavion Navarro got the other strike for Cunupia, in the 63rd. Marlon Phillip was the lone goal-getter for Siparia, in the 48th.

In the latter game at Couva, Defence Force ousted Perseverance Ball Runners 2-0, with goals from Jamaal Goodridge (40th) and Ronald St Louis (90th).

Prisons FC also booked their place in the quarter-final stage after defeating 1976 Phoenix FC 3-1 at the Youth Training Centre (YTC) Ground in Arouca.

Terrence Gene (36th), Troy Moses (54th) and Ricardo Alleyne (81st) scored for the hosts, while Che Richards responded for Phoenix.Osei Sandy found the back of the net in the 56th as FC Santa Rosa edged Club Sando Moruga 1-0 at the Arima Velodrome, while Cyrano Glen scored twice, in the fourth and eighth minutes, as the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT ) got past Bethel United 2-1 at the O’Meara Campus Ground, Arima. Densyl James struck for Bethel, in the 56th.

Police needed kicks from the penalty spot to eliminate Queen’s Park 3-2 at the Dibe Recreation Ground, St James, after the scores were locked at 1-1 at the end of regulation time.

And, at the Edinburgh 500 Recreation Ground, Chaguanas, WASA FC defeated Central 500 Spartans 5-3 on penalties, after the scoreline read 1-1 at fulltime.

The quarter-finals will be staged on September 20, with Guaya United facing WASA, FC Santa Rosa opposing Prisons, UTT squaring off against Police and Defence Force tackling Cunupia. Venues and times for each of the quarter-final games are yet to be determined.
