Trinidad and Tobago Under-20 football squad needed kicks-from-the-penalty spot to eliminate hosts Angostura 1976 FC Phoenix by a 6-5 score-line in their quarter-final match-up of the bmobile National Super League knockout competition.
This meeting took place on Thursday at Canaan, Bon Accord. The Tobago lads had, what seemed to be, a comfortable lead, courtesy strikes from Junior Roberts in the fourth minute and Lejandro Williams in the 60th.

But striker Jamal Gay pulled one back in the 68th and Marvin Manswell notched the equaliser nine minutes later to extend the game to a penalty shoot-out (there was no extra time at the quarter-final phase).

And the national youth team held their nerves during the spot-kicks to book a spot in the last four.

This quarter-final game was originally due to be contested on September 4, but was postponed due to the Under-20s clash against El Salvador; while the rescheduled date last Sunday was again scrapped as a result of inclement weather.

The TT Under-20s will oppose league leaders WASA FC in the first of a semi-final double-header at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya tomorrow from 4 pm. Two hours later, reigning champs Harlem Strikers squares off against Defence Force, with the final carded for Wednesday.
