It rained goals in the bmobile National Super League clash between WASA FC and Harlem Strikers at WASA's St Joseph Ground on Sunday, when the hosts ran away 6-3 winners.
Michael-Lee Celestine hit the net five times on either side of half-time to lead his team to a comfortable win.

Anthony Dass opened the scoring for Harlem Strikers on six minutes, but Darin Lewis equalised six minutes later to draw WASA level.

From there Celestine fired home in the 26th and 36th minutes for a 3-1 WASA lead.

Harlem Strikers stormed right back with two goals in three minutes from Daniel Wells (42nd) and Bernard McCall (44th) and the scores were tied at 3-3. Celestine had the answer, though, restoring WASA's lead in the final minute of the first half.

In the second period, Celestine had two more items, in the 50th and 68th minutes, to complete the rout and push WASA into second place in the standings behind Joe Public FC, with their third consecutive win.

Leaders Joe Public kept up their perfect record with their fifth win in as many matches, a 4-1 beating of previous front-runners Economy Strikers.

The loss drops Economy Strikers down to fourth place, but tied on nine points with Club Sando.

Sando lost to Defence Force 2-1, the Army's first win of the season, which pulls them up three places to ninth on the table.

The match-up between ALCOA Carenage United and 1976 FC Phoenix Sport Club has been re-scheduled for Wednesday June 10.

JOE PUBLIC widened their margin atop the bmobile National Super League standings with a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Economy Strikers, in their top-of-the-table Match Day Five contest on Sunday.

But WASA moved up to second position with the most lopsided win of the year thus far, a 6-3 battering of Harlem Strikers.

Joe Public and Economy held the top two spots entering Sunday’s match at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Tunapuna.

But Joe Public stamped their authority midway in the first-half with strikes from Ellis Dyette in the 28th and Kwesi Thomas nine minutes later.

Dorian Robinson notched Joe Public’s third goal in the 45th minute, speeding past Devaughn Dummette and Ricardo Jones on a darting run on the right before poking home his right-footer beyond the exposed goalkeeper Wendell De Suze.

But De Suze was totally at fault for Joe Public’s fourth, with his meek clearance collected by Anthony Thompson who thundered home his 30- metre right footer in the 47th.

Economy managed a consolation through Kevin Jagdeosingh, in the 63rd, as he got a through ball from Irvin Reyes, held off his marker Jamel Lewis and slotted his left-footer past goalie Jevon Bourne.

The star of the day was midfielder Michael Lee-Celestine, who enjoyed himself with five goals, in front of a vocal home crowd in St Joseph, against a hapless Harlem defence.

Celestine, a former San Juan Jabloteh player who had a handful of national caps, in 2004, under Bertille St Clair, got his name on the scoresheet in the 26th, 36th, 45th, 50th and 68th minutes, after striker Darrin Lewis netted in the 12th.

Anthony Dass gave Harlem a shock sixth minute lead but their joy was short-lived due to Celestine’s goal-spree, despite a couple of responses from Daniel Wells (42nd) and Bernard McCall (44th). Club Sando remained in third spot, despite a 2-1 loss to Defence Force at the Youth Camp in Chaguaramas. The result ended Sando’s unbeaten run in the season.

Club Sando took the lead through Keith Williams in the sixth minute but they relinquished their lead when Jeremiah Headley equalised in the 36th, while Aaron Raper netted the winner in the 65th.

Keron Edwards registered a hat-trick as St Francois Nationals registered their first victory of the season - a 3-1 result over TTEC at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella.

Edwards broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute before Kefim Williams tied up the scores in the 39th. Edwards was not going to be denied as he secured the win for St Francois, with strikes in the 49th and 69th.

And, in a clash of lower-placed squads, Queen’s Park claimed their first win this year, edging M&M Harvard 2-1 at the Trinity College Ground, Moka, Maraval.

Lorne Joseph’s 18th minute opener for Queen’s Park was cancelled out by Shatton Ollivierre in the 42nd, but Daniel McKell notched the winner on the stroke of half-time.

The scheduled match-up between Carenage United and 1976 FC Phoenix, which was cancelled on Sunday, will take place at the Youth Camp on June 10 from 4 pm. Match Day Six encounters will be staged on June 7.
