TTEC whipped Economy Strikers 3-0 in their rescheduled bmobile National Super League Match Day Nine encounter at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Balmain Couva on Sunday.
With the win, TTEC jumped from fourth to second spot, on the 13-team standings, with 24 points, seven points adrift of leaders Joe Public.
On Sunday, Tigana Sparks opened the scoring for TTEC in the 17th minute, Kern Peters doubled the team’s score-line in the 69th and Sylvester Teesdale secured full points in the 80th.
The other rescheduled encounter on Sunday, a Match Day Six fixture between 1976 FC Phoenix and Defence Force, was postponed for the second time, and will now take place on August 11 at Canaan, Bon Accord.
In related news, the League’s knock-out competition will kick off today with five first-round matches, while Joe Public, TTEC and Queen’s Park, the top three teams at the half-way stage of the league, will automatically advance to the quarter-finals.
Five matches will take place today with Defence Force hosting Carenage United at the Army base, Chaguaramas at 3 pm while four others will kick off at 4 pm.
WASA will host Economy Strikers at the WASA Ground in St Joseph, Phoenix will welcome Harlem Strikers to its turf at Canaan, Harvard and East/West Coaching School will square off at the Trinity College Ground in Moka, Maraval and, at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella, Club Sando will face off against St Francois Nationals.
The quarter-finals will be contested on Sunday, the semi-finals on August 16 and the final on August 21. The national Under-20 team, who are now preparing for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Egypt later this year, won both the knoc-kout and league crowns last year.
