AKEEM ROACH netted a hat-trick as The Harvard Club spanked Mayaro Spurs 5-2 on Match Day Two of the Under-17 Division, of the National Youth Football League which took place on Sunday.
Roach found the back of the net in the sixth, 52nd and 90th minutes in the one-sided Group “A” contest, while Jahbarry Thomas (second) and Tafari Williams (35th) also got their names on the scoresheet for Harvard. Romario Gonzales and Rendell McIntosh replied for Mayaro, in the 17th and 85th minutes respectively.
Harvard lead the standings with four points, while FC Santa Rosa is second, after trouncing Eagles United 4-1, courtesy of a treble from Andre Rampersad.
Rampersad struck in the 19th, 42nd and 70th minutes, while Duane Muckette added one in the 84th for Santa Rosa, with Maalik Campbell getting Eagles’ consolation strike in the 26th.
In a topsy-turvy Group “B” encounter, Club Sando edged West Side Super Starz 3-2. Kirby Brewster gave Sando a 11th minute lead but Super Starz responded with items from Brandon Prince (20th) and Andrew Charles (28th).
However, Sando were not going to lie down and die, as they rallied from the 2-1 deficit to claim full points with strikes from Kristoff Alexander, in the 72nd, and Keron Brooks, in stoppage time.
The other Group “B” fixture between WASA and Joe Public was abandoned.
