Champions Carenage Government will take on St Agnes Anglican in one of two Atlantic LNG Port of Spain Primary Schools Football League semifinals, at the Queen’s Park Savannah, today from 10 am.

Carenage cruised into the last four with a 3-0 whipping of Excel Composite and senior teacher/coach Harold Telesford is confident his school will win the title for the seventh time in ten years. St Agnes had a hard-fought victory over a game Rosary Boys RC, which saw the match going into overtime, before penalty kicks were needed to break the deadlock.

In one of the best games seen for the season, the St James-based St Agnes went ahead in the fifth minute when Alvin Toney fired in the opener, while Yohan Anthony increased the lead in the 15th minute. The ‘Rosarians’ came back fighting as James Franklin pulled one back in the 20th minute before David Ropel equalised in the 26th minutes for a 2-2 score at the half-time interval.

Six minutes into the second half, Richard Sirju regained the advantage for St Agnes. However in injury time Rommel Roberts tied the game up for Rosary Boys RC at 3-3 to force overtime which failed to provide a winner, resulting in penalties. For St Agnes, Nicholas Alfred and Sirju converted while Roberts was the lone marksman for Rosary Boys RC.

National and Port of Spain and Environs Girls champions St Agnes will begin their title defence against Diego Martin Government, while Diamond Vale Government plays St Barb’s Govt in the other semifinals today at the Queen’s Park Savannah.
